What a bumper scuff repair actually is

A bumper scuff is usually cosmetic damage to a plastic bumper: paint rubbed through, a scrape from a pillar, trolley, or tight park. The bumper is still attached. The car still drives. You’re looking at finish work, not a write-off.

That’s different from cracks, holes, broken mounts, or damage that goes into the structure behind the bumper. Those jobs belong in a different kind of workshop. Kerbside Panel Co does cosmetic work. If the photos (or the job on site) show it’s beyond that, JJ will tell you straight and point you somewhere that can do it properly.

What Kerbside Panel Co does on site

On a typical driveway bumper scuff:

Work happens where the car is — driveway, street, or work car park. No courtesy car. No multi-day drop-off for a cosmetic graze.

You’re not booking a franchise touch-up van that “sort of” matches. You’re booking a qualified panel beater who does cosmetic refinish for a living.

How the photo quote works

  1. Send two photos — one close up of the scuff, one from a few steps back.
  2. Add make, model, colour, and suburb.
  3. JJ sends back a fixed price (usually the same day). That’s the price before travel.

Indicative pack ranges (labelled indicative — final figure is your photo quote):

A light scuff that buffs or needs a simple blend often sits differently to a bumper that needs a fuller respray. Metallic and pearl finishes are a different job to flat white — that’s why there’s a range, and why the quote comes from your photos.

No travel charge within 25km. Further out — still ask; JJ will say if it’s worth your money.

Time and where we come

Most bumper scuff jobs take 1–3 hours on site once work starts.

Coverage:

Based between Randwick and Alfords Point — Shire jobs (including Menai and Alfords Point) are a natural run, not a special favour.

When we won’t do it

Cosmetic only. Kerbside Panel Co will not:

If it’s the wrong job for mobile cosmetic repair, you hear that before money changes hands for work that shouldn’t start.

FAQs

Can you do it the same day?

Often yes once the quote is locked and the diary fits. Ask when you send photos.

Do I need to be there the whole time?

You need access to the car and a safe place to work. You don’t need to watch every pass of the spray gun.

Will the paint match?

Colour matching and blending is the core of the job. That’s why “qualified panel beater” matters more than a weekend detailer with a rattle can.

Is this an insurance job?

Kerbside Panel Co quotes fixed cosmetic work from photos. Insurance claim handling is between you and your insurer — don’t assume this page is a smash-repair insurance pathway.

What if it’s worse than the photos?

If the damage on site doesn’t match the photos, JJ tells you before starting and you decide. The photo quote is for what’s in the photos.

Scuffed bumper? Two photos. Fixed price. Driveway job.
